GET TO KNOW ALISHA
Born and raised on a small farm in the Midwest, Alisha brings a sensible, grounded mindset to coastal and urban conversations, and has a unique ability to bring the two together. With an incurable sense of curiosity and deep passion for authentic human stories, Alisha works to motivate those around her to think beyond a singular perspective and instead, embrace the beautiful complexities we all bring to the table.
Her leadership and motivation skills come from vast experience and continue to evolve. She has an undying ability to champion the unique skill sets of everyone she meets and empowering those around her to put their highest skills on full display. And as you’re about to learn – she’s putting those incredible qualities to use as she crafts her next chapter.
Over her life, Alisha has worked around the clock to bring her organizational and planning tactics to organizations across the country – spanning local, national, international, broadcast, cable and digital newsroom operations.
Alisha has led teams of experienced journalists, and most enthusiastically – young, extraordinarily passionate and dedicated journalists through an as-life-happens bootcamp. When she joined Scripps News (formerly Newsy), she guided the team through countless historic events. It was through those years that Alisha led a live mentorship program as the team worked through a year of moments in history like few generations have seen.
After years of struggling with her physical and mental health, Alisha met one of the most impactful women in her life. Her primary care physician became the first medical provider that encouraged Alisha to change her life and supported her along the way.
In December 2017, she embarked on a lifelong journey to understand nutrition, cardiovascular health, strength training, mobility and agility. That lifelong journey started with one motivational moment with her physician and a step on a treadmill.
Since then, she has maintained a nearly 130-pound weight loss, working daily to maintain personal physical health. And in that time, she has invested countless hours with therapists who work to help her manage trauma, anxiety, depression and generally… big feelings.
In October 2023, Alisha walked away from a nearly 25-year career in media, eager to leave the business behind her and rediscover her true self. In that time of rediscovery, she realized what she actually already knew – a caring, compassionate, hype girl has always been what’s within.
And she’s about to unleash that hype girl. She’s leveraging her expertise, leadership and operations skills outside the media industry. Alisha’s next chapter will be centered on a lifestyle dedicated to health and wellness and businesses that align with her goals.
Alisha’s desire to understand the world around her will never end. She’s passionate about the freedom of information and a staunch supporter of ethical journalism. She believes in working alongside her teams, investing in proactive communication, productive feedback, random dance breaks and general shenanigans.
Alisha takes pride in knowing she has made mistakes along the way, and supports others who do the same. And, she takes pride in knowing — as long as we value and learn from those moments, individuals and teams become unstoppable.
With an undying sense of eternal optimism, and as a staunch advocate for inclusivity, Alisha believes anything is possible, as long as you’re willing to give it a try.
When not at the gym, you’ll find her playing outside on her bicycle, snapping photos of flowers and bees, admiring the architecture, or dancing her heart out to whatever music is filling her ears. Quite simply, she’s living vibrantly in the present.
